Ghostface Compiles Classics, Rarities for GhostDeini

(swiped from Pitchfork Media)

Matching standout cuts from his studio albums with an array of rare remixes and a slew of appearances from top-shelf guests, Ghostface Killah's collection GhostDeini the Great is due December 16 from Def Jam. The Wu-Tang MC is joined on the disc by cameos from Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Pusha T of Clipse, Ice Cube, Beanie Sigel, and all of his Wu associates.
Quite a few tracks will be familiar to anyone who's been following Pretty Toney's career trajectory to date, but several-- like opener "Slept on Tony", the Cube-laced remix of "Be Easy", the Pusha T-boosted "Kilo", and motherfucking "Ghostface Christmas"-- are previously unreleased. The set will be available digitally and on CD, with the CD coupled with footage from Ghostface's time on the Hip Hop Live! Tour.
Ghost will join the Wu-Tang Clan on the road over the next few months as part of their 8 Diagrams tour. The Wu are participating in the Rock the Bells charity auction, and The Story of the Wu-Tang Clan premieres on BET tonight at 8 PM EST, and hits DVD November 18 from Paramount. Oh, and don't forget to stock up on Wu boots for the wintertime.

Ice Cube Says He's Done Censoring Himself At 'Do Ya Thang' Video Shoot

Raw Footage, an album of 'hip-hop for the brain,' drops in August.

(Swiped from MTVNews)

It was another good day for Ice Cube in Los Angeles recently. He shot the video for his next single, "Do Ya Thang," without a hitch.

You could hear "Do ya thang, man/ F--- what they lookin' at" busting out of the playback speakers as Cube stood in front of a myriad of supporters throwing up a "W" made with their fingers. Everyone was dressed in black.

"I released the Internet single called 'Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It.' The video was so hard-core, it just stayed on the Internet," Cube said, sitting in a cherry-red convertible as the sun beat down. "This one is gonna be released worldwide. It's one of those summer songs about doing your thing, not worrying about who's looking at it. It's about being yourself and doing you.

"I wanted to finally do a video and not worry about censoring myself or not taking things out that some censors don't like," he continued.

Cube's Raw Footage drops on August 19, and don't think that just because this new single and video are less stringent that he's decided to lighten up the overall tone of the album. He's promised weighty lyrics and concepts.

"I'm raw footage," he said. "I believe in speaking the real. I been waiting to do this album for a long time. I felt hip-hop wasn't ready for it, that street knowledge I used to do. What's going on with the politics of today — letting the politicians know what's going on with the streets — that's my specialty. This album is full of that. Hip-hop for the brain."

Guests on the album include the Game, Musiq and one of Ice's best friends.

"Dub C, he's my partner in crime," he detailed. "My right and left hand. We got the Game on there. We been talking to a few people out there. I have a song with Musiq Soulchild, which is something different. It was cool to have him do my hook."

On Tuesday (July 1), it was announced that Cube's next film, "Janky Promoters," will co-star Young Jeezy as a rapper. The plot centers on Cube's and Mike Epps' shady show-promoter characters. Cube wrote the screenplay.

New Releases this Week: 9/4

This week on the DVD front is the 2nd, and uncensored, mind you, season of Robot Chicken, courtesy of the good folks at Adult Swim. In this DVD set are more of our favorite stop motion claymation created by Seth Green, taking a parody filled turn, especially with its creme de la cremme episode, the Star Wars parody.

Aside from Robot Chicken, you also have Season three of The Office, the hit TV show featuring Steve Carrell as the boss man, and Rainn Wilson as his trusty assistant. On the music front, there isn't really much coming out, but there is a nifty little movie compilation from Ice Cube called "In The Movies," which contains all his tracks which he has contributed to various movie soundtracks during his career lifespan. You'd be hard pressed to find a CD with "Natural Born Killers," "How To Survive In South Central," and his most recent movie/soundtrack hits "You Can Do It," alongside several others. At least this should hold you over until 9/11, when you have several new releases hitting the marketplace, such as Kanye West's long awaited third album, "Graduation," 50 Cent with "Curtis," and last, but not least, DJ Muggs & Sick Jacken with "The Legend Of The Mask And The Assassin."

Be on the lookout for the top iPhone and iPod rumors set to come out later today.
